Santa Claus Visit to HKL Paediatric Ward

Yesterday we went to visit some kids in Wad KK3 in HKL Paediatric Institute. There are about 30-35 patients in the ward. This event went quite smooth and in conjunction with the coming Christmas, Santa Claus also joined us during this visit.

As you can see, there are lots of contributions received. Even though we cannot issue tax-exempt receipt for these contributions, there are still lots of people contributing for this good cause. Each patient received hamper, gift bag, Santa gift, balloon, story books, color and pillow for the craft making project.

Each participant is assigned with one or few patients each. When I had mine (only one), I was quite worried on what to say to her because I'm not a good conversationalist, especially with kids. And yesterday, since my assigned patient was quite ill, and cannot do much activities I just had chat with her father. She just had a brain surgery and most of the time, she just cries and whine. It's hard to see small kids to suffer like that. She is just 7 years old. I thought of visiting her again this week and hope she will be better at that time so we can continue the activities that we are supposed to do yesterday.

Below are some pictures on yesterday's activities.

Premma Needs Your Help

"I am confident someone here would be able to extend a helping hand here.

Premma had a Chinese husband who ran into debt with Ah Longs. He sold all the electrical items and furniture in the flat to try to pay off his debt. Three years ago, he abandoned Premma and their 3 kids (2 girls aged 16 & 13. 1 boy aged 6).

Premma now work as a tea lady and irons clothes in the evening to earn a living. Salary RM650 a month. Church helps out with RM100 a month. Rental for their Puchong flat is RM250. Most of the time, they survive on rice and sardines only.

They had to sleep on the floor for want of matresses until Mary Anne from Jumble Station came to know of their plight and managed to get 2 single mattresses for the girls. She is now trying to source for a Queen size mattress for Premma and the son.

So, here's your chance to do some charity work. All Prem is looking for is a Queen size mattress so that she and the son have a place to sleep on. The mattress can be used but in good condition, or new. They would appreciate any kind of offer. If interested, please contact Mary Anne from Jumble Station at 016 220 2958.

Ok...folks...get to it!

Bless you all."
